If you’ve ever seriously played basketball, you’ve had the nightmare: A game-winning shot, a chance at glory … then something goes horribly, horribly wrong.
That exact scenario nearly played out Saturday night for the Grandview High School Greyhounds in Washington state. With seconds left in a 65-65 tie game, Grandview stole the ball from Prosser High School with just enough time for a game-winning layup. We won’t spoil what happened next, so just watch the video, above.
That’s it. The ball just got stuck there. No last-second roll through the net for an improbable win. No last-second roll off the rim for a heartbreaking loss. The ball. Just. Sat. There.
But all’s well that ends well, right? The game went into overtime, where Grandview won 72-70 to preserve an undefeated season, according to high-school sports publication MaxPreps.
Talk about a team of destiny.
